Many people think that Facebook Business pages aren't really useful. That's definitely not true. With Facebook Ads becoming more popular than ever and Facebook Live coming on the scene, your Facebook Business page is more important than ever. Why? Think about it: all of your Facebook marketing activity centers around your Facebook Business page. You can't do Facebook Ads without a Facebook Business page and you definitely want to broadcast from your Facebook Business page. But is that all Facebook Business pages are good for? Nope! Let me give you 10 ways to promote your business on Facebook and most of them involving your Facebook Business page.

1) Do a Facebook Live broadcast from your Facebook Business Page
This is one of the easiest way to promote your business on Facebook if you need to get the word out about something really fast. The first thing you need to do is download the Facebook Pages app to your phone. This is the app that will allow you to broadcast live using your Facebook Business page. It's a great way to promote your business because it allows you to make a connection with the people who are watching and the people who like your page. Remember, Facebook LOVES video! A Facebook Live broadcast will reach more people than the typical 2% reach of a regular Facebook post.

2) Post in Facebook Groups that you are active in
The key phrase here is “groups you are ACTIVE in”. In other words, what groups do you spend the most time in? If you're not active in Facebook Groups, spend the time to get to know people and build relationships. It's all about connections and credibility. Also, be sure to check out the group rules to see what is allowed and what isn't allowed. You don't want to be breaking the hosts' rules!

3) Do Facebook Ads to your email list
I'll admit that this is an advanced move but in the long run, it saves you a lot of money and it is an AMAZING launch technique! In order to do this, you have to download your email list in a .csv format. Next, you upload your email list as a Custom Audience in your Facebook Ads dashboard. When you upload your email list as a Custom Audience into Facebook, Facebook does a cross-check to see which emails are a match in their database. If the email is a match, then that person can be advertised to. It's a very inexpensive way to promote your business to people who already know you. Check out the video above for a more detailed explanation.

4) Facebook Business Page Short Description
This is one of the most overlooked ways to promote your business on Facebook. Your short description on your Facebook Business Page is one of the first things people see when they come to your Facebook page. Most people use this space to promote their website but the best way to use it is to promote what's going on in your business RIGHT NOW! The problem that most people run into when they try to implement this technique is the character limit. You only have 170 characters for your short business description, so make it count!

5) Post on your Facebook Business Page
Duh-right? Well, I want to give you permission. You have permission to promote your business on your Facebook Business page, IF and only IF, you promote other types of content as well. Many entrepreneurs are scared that they will get arrested by the Facebook police if they promote their business on their Business Page. That's what it's there for! As long as you promote your blog posts, videos, other articles, inspirational quotes, etc. (you know what I mean), then you're free to promote your business on Facebook.

6) Boost a Facebook post
I'm not sure how boosting a post has a negative stigma to it but it's actually a great thing to do. For one, boosting a post counts as advertising in Facebook's eyes. So, if you're one of those entrepreneurs who is terrified of trying Facebook Ads, do a boosted post. Boosting a post is one of the most inexpensive ways to advertise on Facebook and it's also one of the easiest to do. Another benefit to boosting a post is that it gets the people who like your page in the habit of seeing your posts. You want to do that to encourage them to visit your Business page often and on their own.

7) Create a Facebook Event
This is one of my favorite things to do when I'm promoting something in my business. For some odd reason, my community loves to share my events. Creating a Facebook Event from your Facebook Business Page is a forgotten feature of Facebook. It takes a couple of minutes to create and you're off to the races! If you watch the video above, you'll see that I offer the idea of having scheduled Facebook Live broadcasts and creating events for them. Great idea-right? Also, check out this blog post where I got 21,000 hearts from my 100th broadcast on Periscope and most of them heard about it through a Facebook Event I created using my Facebook Business Page (click here for the blog post).

8) Create a Custom Tab on your Facebook Business Page
This is another advanced technique but it's been effective for me when it comes to getting the word about something I'm doing in my business. You really want to take advantage of this technique if you're doing a marketing event that requires people to sign-up (i.e. a workshop, webinar, free call, giveaway, free challenge, etc). If you want to create a sign-up page as a Custom Tab on your Facebook Business Page, I highly recommend using LeadPages (that's what I use). LeadPages makes it easy to publish your sign-up page as a Custom Tab on your Facebook Business Page.

9) Use your Cover Photo and Call To Action button
Using your Facebook Page's Cover Photo and Call To Action button are rarely used for promotion. Frankly, I don't understand why. It's the very FIRST thing people see when they come to your Facebook Business page, no matter if it's from their phone or desktop computer. Think of your Cover Photo as your own business billboard. Why not use it to promote your business? Also, it's good to switch up your Cover Photo every once in a while. You're not always promoting the same thing in your business are you? So, shake it up!

10) Create a “Pinned” Post on your Facebook Business Page
If a Facebook Cover Photo and Call To Action button are the first things that people see when they visit your Facebook Business Page, a “Pinned” post is a very close second. It's really easy to create a “Pinned” post on your Facebook Business Page. First, write a post on your Facebook Business page and press the “Publish” button. Then press the drop down arrow on the top right and select “Pin to Top”. There you go! A regular Facebook post that is at the top of your Facebook Business page for all to see!
